Mae is a research associate in the Department of Forest Resources. Mae earned her PhD in Natural Resources Science and Management with a focus in recreation resource management at the University of Minnesota in 2003. She completed her Master's degree in Recreation Management at the University of Montana's School of Forestry in 2000. She began working for CPSP in January 2001 and assists the program with survey development, data collection and analysis, and technical writing.
Mae continues to develop her research interests and pursuits. She is currently exploring the benefits of using multiple methods in investigating the nature of recreation experiences. She has an intense interest in the values people assign to or associate with natural resources and how these values influence behavior and attitudes. Mae’s past research has examined the nature of winter recreation, in particular the snowmobiling experience in Yellowstone National Park.
Mae enjoys many outdoor activities such as fishing, whitewater kayaking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, and hiking with her devoted dog, Loki.
